David first picked up a paintbrush during his studies at university. After several successful exhibitions David began to experiment with merging traditional art with digital graphic design techniques and in 2008 established to explore the way Indigenous art and design could be used in modern communication. The led to the formation of Gilimbaa, and Indigenous creative agency based in Brisbane. A descendant of the Wakka Wakka people of central south-west Queensland, he learnt the traditional songs and stories of his people from his grandmother.
